December Daily 2014 ~ Cover Page

Hi everyone! I know it has been a while since my last ramblings. Life's so many to offer that you couldn't just do one thing. You gotta take it all in and enjoy it.

Anyway, I was delighted that Kathleen of The Filipino Scrapbookers Club invited me to join the Daily December 2014 inspirational team. And to start off, please follow the link for my cover page,

http://www.scrapbook.com/myplace/index.php?mod=galleries&u=264955&a=412675&size=0

This time around I want to stay a little bit away from the usual and traditional Christmas styles which is the brightly reds and greens and glitters. I will still throw some few shiny embellishments here and there but not to the point that it overcrowds my layout. This year I would like to make it like an everyday layout with a touch of a vintage feel in it. Not just because it is my style of scrapbooking but this will also challenge me to create without sticking to a specific theme. Occasions like this doesn't really necessary you only have to work with a specific themed products. You have to widen your imagination and use your creativity and to let your mind out of the box. Don't let it constrain your creativity. MAKE IT! It feels good to feel free.

So I hope you have fun creating your own DD 2014. Stay tuned for my 1st page DD! And I will see you.

Maligayang Pasko!

Card Making

Card making has always been my first love. I can still remember dating back when I was in grade school in an art class making a valentines card that I got hooked with it. As I grow my interest with arts diversed. I got into textile painting, drawing, I even made my own comic books. Times passed and everyone I think comes into the situation where you find your way in life, discovering life as it is and with it I kind of went astray from the card making and generally arts. Even more when I got to high school and eventually college where pressure is a frontline enemy.

Having some financial issues that time was so hard to get by especially when you are in school because part of growing up is also getting what you want. Things like this and things like that. Good thing I was a good son that I always set aside wants from needs and to always evaluate myself why I was going to school for. So yes even buying a  decent birthday card for a friend was hard. The next thing I knew I was back with card making.

My brother recently asked me a favor if I can make him a Valentines card and this is the outcome of the card.

I don't know about how you will assess the card but for me I think I made a little mistake here. One of the viewer of my card from scrapbook.com made it clear that the background patterned paper made it a little busy to focus on the front of the card. But I still love how the way it looks.

Shabby Chic Card

I have never been a Shabby Chic Artist but when I first saw Frank Garcia's artworks I was kind of come into thinking why not? I thought I'd try Shabby Chic someday for a change. Yesterday while I was looking at Frank's posts I got a message from a friend who congratulated me for winning a challenge layout from the Filipino Scrapbookers Challenge Blog on an international category, and I thought it's about time to explore other techniques in terms of making LO and cards. I tell you I am not that good at all. Shabby Chic is entirely a whole new level but I tried it anyway. So ok, without any further adieu here is my card a la Shabby Chic style:

This is how it looks like when the card is closed.

And this is how it looks like when it's opened.

There are several old and new products that I used in making this card. Here is the list:

Teresa Collins Stamp Bundle

Ok, so I got this package I ordered from Scrapace. I've been waiting for this for about 2 weeks and I was so excited when I got it last monday. These lovely stamps are from Teresa Collins from her new collection called Vintage Finds and Christmas Cottage. I only ordered it specifically for this stamp

because I noticed I have been using only one kind of Christmas stamp when making my Christmas cards (heh!) so I got that. These other two are lovely as well especially the bingo one.

And I don't know if this other one

was included in the bundle. I just can't remember really. But anyhow, I am so very excited to play with these. I will be having my vacation next month and after that I will be making Christmas cards for family and friends. I will keep you guys posted about them cards soon. Take care!

This is the link to the online scrapbooking deal where I got those stamps. Happy shopping!

Layout

I just finished a layout using one paper from the Bramble Rose Paper Pad. Added some few piece of scraps and voila! When I am trying to make a layout, I don't limit myself from just one collection. I try to add old and new paper collections and scraps. I find it boring when I just use one particular collection to make an album. I throw everything in an album because for me it is how I define fun. The only thing that keeps me in focus with coordination is the photo's emotion to what I throw in a layout.
